John de Lancie (born Jonathan de Lancie; March 20, 1948) is an American stand-up comedian, actor, director, producer, and musician, best known for his role as Q in Star Trek: The Next Generation, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, and Star Trek: Voyager. He has been featured in several recurring roles on television series, including Frank Simmons in Stargate SG-1, Donald Margolis in Breaking Bad, and as the voice of Discord in My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic.
